Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the popular cricketers in the world and his contribution to Indian Cricket is very much appreciable. Now, he cracked a new milestone in his career by surpassing the wickets claimed by Harbhajan Singh and grabbing the third-highest wicket-taker for India in Tests. Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid reacted to this achievement by Ashwin.
“Harbhajan Singh was a terrific bowler for India. What @ashwinravi99 has done to go past him is a phenomenal achievement,” said the Head Coach Rahul Dravid and shared his happiness over the same.
Harbhajan Singh took 417 wickets in his entire career and Ravi Ashwin claimed 419 wickets to date. Ashwin reached this milestone in the first test match that took place between India and New Zealand in Kanpur. Ashwin achieved this feat by scalping New Zealand opener Tom Latham’s wicket.
Anil Kumble is still the top wicket-taker for the country with 619 wickets. Kapil Dev stands next to him with 434 wickets.
With this achievement, Ashwin also became the second-highest wicket-taker among Indian spinners right now and the fifth-highest wicket-taker among all spinners across the world.
Ravichandran Ashwin who hails from Tamil Nadu began his Test career in November 2011.
